Some initial projects led by working parties resulted in successful funding bids, some £600,000 of project funding being realised to date.

Vale Vision works from well-equipped shop premises at 28, Long Street, Dursley. The shop not only provides an office and meeting venue but the window enables us to keep local people informed resulting in a growing number of people visiting the shop to comment on local developments or projects.

Employment and skills development are major features of regeneration. Working in partnership with The GL11 Community Project, 'The Learning Community', Rednock School and Stroud College, means that we are able to ensure that skills development matches opportunities that come to the area through redevelopment. Rednock School moved into new buildings in September 2009, and the College’s Education Centre is now in Drake House on the Littlecombe site.

The Healthy Living Partnership, led by a local GP, has been working to understand local needs which has resulted in local people training as Walk Leaders and a programme of shorter health walks being established.

Vale Vision's involvement with local sports groups has resulted in the setting up of a Sports Partnership, which is now independent of Vale Vision and well established, having held its first AGM in September 2006. Its main aim is to improve sports and active leisure facilities and make them available to a wider range of people.

New projects are in the discussion stage which will improve access to the natural environment - the beautiful countryside that forms part of and surrounds the Vale Vision area - and improve facilities for visitors and tourists to the area. Developing Breakheart Quarry and linking it to the established Sculpture Trail in Twinberrow Wood will provide an opportunity for young and old to appreciate and enjoy the environment in which they live. More potential sections of the cycleway are being investigated and surveyed by Sustrans, and a start is being made on the project to survey and preserve valued buildings in the town centre.
