SWRDA / St Modwen Littlecombe Development
Return to Home Page
The demise of local manufacturing industry, Lister Petter resulted in a recovery plan managed by the South West Regional Development Agency in the purchase of the former Lister site (now renamed Littlecombe). Three smaller industries remain to carry on the development of engines with a total workforce of some 400 - quite a drop from the 5000 local people originally employed in the manufacturing industry.

The development of this site by St Modwen has received outline planning for:

  • a small industrial development to provide employment and rehouse the three existing companies in new units,
  • the successful development of 'The Towers' (a prominent feature of the site) into a Care home and units for the elderly,
  • some 600 new homes to include 30% affordable housing,
  • an attractive community area to enhance the development.
Littlecombe Business Park
Development of the site will not only provide work and housing, it will be enhanced by the opening up of the Rivers, Cam and Ewelme with attractive riverside walkways and footpaths, and cycle way links to the town of Dursley.
Work is well underway with the river opened up at the Cam end and in spite of the very wet weather the landscape is changing day by day. Please click here for an update on the development.
Working in partnership with SWRDA, St Modwen, Stroud College, Stroud District Council and the Lister Petter company has resulted in the development of the Construction Skills Centre Project .
